KZN police believe Durban North woman, Siam Lee, may have been raped before her murder.
“We are going to take some samples and check whether the woman was maybe raped before she was killed. Those samples will be taken for analysis to check if she was raped or not, so we can add another count if she was raped,” SAPS’ Thulani Zwane said.
He says no arrests have been made as yet. Police have since released an identikit of the suspect.
Lee went missing over a week ago.
She was last seen outside her place of work in Margaret Maytom Avenue.
A badly burnt body was found on a farm in New Hanover in the Midlands on Saturday, two days after her disappearance.
Family members identified the body as being Lee’s yesterday.
SAPS are awaiting the results of DNA testing.
