Search and rescue officials have recovered the body a second baby, siblings with the 18-month-old found earlier in Isipingo.

The 3-year-old was found not far from where her sibling was found earlier today.

The two young siblings and their mom were washed away near Isipingo, south of Durban during Tuesday’s storm.

Police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says they are still searching for the girls’ mother.

“Our search and rescue team have recovered two more bodies at the Isipingo area. The first one is an 18-month-old female who was found at the Isipingo canal. A few minutes later, a three-year-old victim was found,” he says.

Zwane says the storm has so far claimed at least 13 lives.

The figure could increase as at least five other people are still missing.

The heavy downpours saw homes, businesses and roads flooded.
