A man has been killed in an alleged hit-and-run incident on the N2 in Durban.
Emergency services say the pedestrian was struck while trying to cross the busy freeway in the vicinity of Queen Nandi Drive this morning.
IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst says he died at the scene.
“Unfortunately, the vehicle did not stop at the accident scene. The pedestrian was declared dead by paramedics on arrival,” he says.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
Meanwhile, sixteen people have been hurt after three vehicles collided at the corner of Stanger Street and Argyle Road in the Durban CBD.
A taxi and a car crashed into each other before colliding into a stationary vehicle. The injured were treated before being rushed to hospital.
