A man who was travelling on the back of a truck, was critically injured after falling off the truck and being driven over by a car on N2 south bound just past King Shaka International Airport on Tuesday morning.
He was airlifted to hospital to get the critical attention he required.
Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst confirmed that five people were injured in the accident, which involved four vehicles.
One of the victims was critically injured and was airlifted to hospital.
Paul Herbst of IPSS Medical Rescue said, “Three cars and a truck were involved in a collision. The patient that IPSS is flying, fell off the back of a truck when a vehicle travelling behind the truck drove over him.”
Rush hour traffic was severely backed up as authorities cleared up the scene.
The Road Traffic Inspectorate, SAPS as well as Metro Police attended the scene.
