Man drowns at Umhlanga holiday apartment pool

A 33-year-old man has died after drowning in a swimming pool at an uMhlanga holiday apartment.

Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst said that the incident happened around 22H55 on Saturday evening.

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to reports of the drowning at a holiday apartment in Lagoon drive, Umhlanga rocks.

Reports from the scene indicate that a 33-year-old male was with coworkers at the time who were all staying at the resort as part of a team building event had drowned in the resorts pool, he was found unconscious by a coworker who pulled him out the water, when paramedics arrived CPR was initiated but the man unfortunately demised and was declared deceased on the scene.

Durban North SAPS was on scene and will be investigating.
