Durban – A Hillcrest resident was lucky to escape a home invasion unharmed after she was confronted by a panga-wielding intruder on Friday morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the robber confronted the resident in her Hospital Road home after breaking into the house through a lounge window.
“The intruder forced open a lounge window and burglar bars to gain entry into the house. He held up the resident and told her to be quiet before tying her up in the bedroom,” Mathios said.
Mathios said the suspect fled the scene with two cellphones. The panga was recovered at the boundary fence where the suspect had fled the scene.
The incident was reported to the Hillcrest SAPS who are investigating.
Earlier this week three people locked themselves into the study of their home during a home invasion in Durban North. The robbers broke down the study door and forced the home owner to open the safe.
The homeowner was treated for back injuries.
