Two people were killed and two others injured in a horrific single-vehicle crash on the Mangosuthu Highway in Umlazi around 3 am on Tuesday morning.
Just after 3 am Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a single vehicle had somehow lost control and collided with a tree just before mega City Robots.
Paramedics found carnage on the scene. Two passengers a male and a female believed to be in their twenties had sustained major injuries and when paramedics assessed them found them to show no signs of life and they were declared deceased at the scene.
The driver had sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.
A pedestrian who was walking on the pavement was also struck by the vehicle and had sustained serious injuries.
Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the pedestrian on the scene before transporting them through to a nearby hospital.
At this stage, the exact cause of the single vehicle to lose control and collide with a tree is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
